寿という獣 「丑」
本作は、江戸時代後期の浮世絵師 遠浪斎重光（えんろうさいしげみつ）の「寿という獣」という作品に着想を得て描かれました。
遠浪斎を始め、複数の浮世絵師によって描かれた、「十二支全ての特徴を持つ めでたい生き物」は、feebee氏の制作テーマである「畏怖・生死・循環」に通じるモティーフであると言えます。様々な要素が絡み合いながら、興亡や衰退を繰り返し、循環していく。そして、十二支もその年ごとにメインとなる動物が循環して暦を成していきます。卯年にちなんだ本作は、卯の頭をもち、体には自分の出番を待つ11匹の動物たちが巧みに描き分けられています。

※浮世絵シリーズ「寿という獣」は、2022年12月現在「子」「丑」「寅」「卯」が完成しており、今後も新作が発表される予定です。

伝統的な木版画制作を手がける「アダチ版画研究所」との共同製作によって版画とは思えないほど繊細な表現をお楽しみ下さい。

"The Beast Known as Kotobuki - Rabbit -" This piece was inspired by “A Beast called Kotobuki” by Shigemitsu Enrousai, an ukiyo-e artist of the late Edo Period. The auspicious creature that embodies the characteristics of all the animals of the Eastern zodiac has been painted by Enrousai and other ukiyo-e artists. As a motif, it resonates with the theme of “reverence, life and death, the cyclical nature of life” that feebee has expressed through her work. Various elements are entwined with one another as they rise and fall in a continuous cycle. The 12 animals of the zodiac also revolve, one animal taking center stage each year to create the calendar. This work is created for the Year of the Rabbit and features a creature with a Rabbit's head and the other 11 animals, awaiting their turn, masterfully incorporated into its body. *The series of "The Beast Known as Kotobuki" will be completed with 12 animals. The fourth animal, "Rabbit" is released for 2023 coming after "Tiger" for 2022, "Ox" for 2021 and "Rat" for 2020.
